  • The court is located at 705 E. 4th Street, Hobart, IN. Downtown Hobart 2 blocks east of highway 51 (Main Street) on 4th street. Enter the door on the north side of the building marked COURT.

Payments made online are processed through public.courts.in.gov  for traffic tickets or Government Payment Services for criminal misdemeanor cases, a nominal fee will be charged for this form of payment. Please contact the court office to obtain specific information you will need to process your payment.

  • Yes. Payments via telephone are processed through Government Payment Services at 1-888-604-7888, a nominal fee will be charged for this form of payment. Please contact the court office to obtain specific information you will need to process your payment.

  • You will need the pay location code: 1359. Your court cause number (example 45H05-1304-CM-01234 or 45H05-1304-IF-01234), the Hobart Police case number (example 13-HO-01234 or 09-1234), and the total amount owed. This information should be available within any paperwork or citation you may have received and through Odyssey at mycase.IN.gov.

  • Yes. Payment by mail will only be accepted in the form of a money order made out to Hobart City Court and should be mailed to 705 E. 4th Street, STE C, Hobart, IN 46342.

  • If payment is received prior to your court date you will not be required to appear. However, it is your responsibility to be sure your case has been resolved before your court date.

  • You can represent yourself or hire an attorney to represent you. "Pro Se" parties (non-attorneys representing themselves) should be prepared to present their cases in a proper manner. It is not the Court's duty or responsibility to protect or represent you; instruct you on court procedure, evidence rules; or help to present and prove your case. It is each party's responsibility to seek counsel in a suit.

  • A financial affidavit must be completed and reviewed by the court. The financial affidavit may be obtained from the bailiff prior to the start of court and the court will review the information when your case is called. The court will consider the appointment of a public defender only in cases that involve the possibility of jail time.

  • Court files may contain confidential information. Each time information from court files is requested the information to be provided is reviewed by court staff to ensure the information provided does not include information that is confidential under State or Federal law or the Rules of the Indiana Supreme Court.

  • You may request a continuance on an initial hearing by phone one time for up to two weeks. All other continuances must be requested in person or by written motion and will be ruled on by the Judge.

  • Community service must be performed at the location you were assigned in court. A change in location may only be approved by the Judge. Under no circumstances will approval be given at a location where alcohol is served.
