Hobart, Indiana, located in the Northwest corner of Indiana, was once the home of the Pottawatomie Indians. Today it is a growing community with excellent schools, emergency services, beautiful Parks, and large shopping mall all within a short driving distance. The city of Hobart is located near three major highways: I-65 to the West, I80/94 to the North, and US route 30 to the South. Hobart is approximately 26 square miles and is only 38 miles from Chicago, Illinois, and 151 miles north of Indianapolis, Indiana.
The City government consists of an elected mayor, seven city councilmen, clerk treasurer and city judge.
Hobart has spacious land for industrial development along major highways and newly developing subdivisions throughout the city. Hobart has twenty-one beautiful parks located throughout the city. Along with the city parks, Hobart has an 150 acre lake located near the downtown area which provides for fishing and boating.
Hobart has six public schools, several private schools, and a business college that provide an excellent education for our children and young adults.
Hobart has a full time fire department with three fire stations located throughout the city. It has an ISO rating of 4/9. The city also has a police department with two stations providing protection to all the citizens of Hobart. Officers have take home cars providing a quick response in case of an emergency.
